  • Princeton Reverb Design Errors?

One of the better-known amp-mod vendors sells a kit that supposedly fixes the "design errors" in Princeton Reverb amps.

Anybody know what those "errors" might be??

    IMHO, that's bunk.
There are no design errors only one self appointed "guru's" opinion and that's it.

My guess is it will be something like the "Stokes Mod", the way the cathodyne phase inverter is fed from a lower voltage part of the B+ rail (after the second 18K dropping resistor), ... possibly the "Paul C mod", or changing the self biasing nature of that triode, ... the well known, overall low bass tuning of the cathode bypass caps and of course, .... the annoying non-adjustable fixed bias supply.

Let's not forget the reverb switch arrangement that puts the received signal on the end of a long-assed antenna. Yeah, a relay would have been nice, but a simple NPN transistor driven with rectified heater voltage would have done the job for something like $0.35

I figured as much.....the well-known vendor has a pretty poor reputation.

Whats funny is that based on the subject and your last statement, I'm 98% on who it is. I personally think he got a bum rep. But he's no Keen, Aiken or Oconnor for sure.
