Yes, that is the idea, and since there was an extra set of contacts on the upper section, you would also ground the input to the unselected gain channel too.
But really, I wouldn't add this unless the circuit needed it. DOn't add complexity just for the sake of having it. I only brought it up as an example of using multiple relays driven together to accomplish various tasks with one footswitch button.
