  • Disabling Vibratio in Vibrolux Reverb S/F

I have a Silverface Vibrolux Reverb.

I have used a switched pot for the intensity pot, so at minimum, it switches out the yellow lead.

When it is in the off position, the power output (well, at that setting) does go up considerably, but as time passes, the channel gets noisier and noisier ...any thoughts on this?

    Thanks
    Gary

Does this noise only happen when the vibrato pot is switched off? If you turn on the switch and keep the intensity set to minimum does the noise still happen? What kind of noise?

yes, noise only happens when vibrato disconnected....kinda background noise ....hiss and bubble! ... like a noisy tube or similar.

Seems to get worse the longer the switch is off.
      Interesting.

Hard to tell without having the amp in front of me but:

        - try changing V2 and V4 and see what happens
        - maybe noisy plate-Rs? Try new CC of mf ones

Besides extra volume/gain the trem-disconnecting-mod does also give more clarity/detail, more high end some more chances to hear noise.

        Hope this helps a little.

Besides changing the tubes (which would be the first thing I would try), you could try putting small (say 4k7) grid stopper resistors at the grid pins, esp the first one in the signal path (but this would be more an an experiment than anything)
