  • How to add reverb to Crate V5 amp

    Hi all,
Is there a way to add a reverb tank to a very basic Crate V5 5watt amp without using a Reverb Pedal on my pedal board. Something like plug and play without doing a major wiring job.
    Thanks in advance.

    You could use the circuit from the V18;
There are supply rails that should drive it.

Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.

If you're not picky about it being a mechanical tank, the belton reverb modules are very simple and even cheaper than a tank.

At what price point? Any attempt to integrate spring reverb with your amp is going to require hours of work, and time costs money. All reverb solutions require power and support circuitry, whether spring or digital.

The Belton DIGIlog modules are about the same price as a spring reverb tank: http://smallbear-electronics.mybigco...everb-modules/

...and again, you need a circuit around it.

Sadly you donīt have the physical space inside for that.
Best case you might fit a tiny, kazoo sounding tank as used in karaoke cassette players ... you wonīt like that.

            Sadly no.
Besides the raw reverb tank, you need a drive circuit, a recovery circuit, a mixing circuit for clean and delayed signals and a supply for all of that.
Your current supply might or might not accept the extra load, in principle not.
So in principle, lots of wiring and building in general.

Believe it or not, the best option still is a pedal up front.

Plus there are KILLER reverb pedals.

This one is made by my friend Ronaldo "Alien" in Sao Paulo, brazil.

You need to tweak a regular spring circuit *a lot* to reach this liquid beauty:

I was thinking the best option might be to integrate a 9v power supply into the Crate and then tuck a pedal into the cabinet, maybe mount to the inside side panel, and use a short jumper to connect to the input jack of the amp. That way the reverb is IN the amp but can also be removed from the amp. I would think even the cheapest mini reverb pedal on the market would sound better than a tank that could fit in this cabinet.
