  • 6k6's in 5e3

Can I put 6K6's in my stock 5E3 without doing anything else and without doing any damage to the amp?

Has anyone tried this? What were the results?

I am using a weber copper cap as a rectifier.

    I've done it many times.
Make sure you are using a NOS 5Y3GT rectifier (or equiv.) and the plate voltage isn't over 350vdc.

I am not at the amp right now, and haven't measured it in a while so I can't remember what it is. Do you know off the top of your head what it should be (around)? Weber standard kit with copper cap. In other words, would you expect it to be okay, with all things normal?

I will probably get a NOS rectifier soon, but I want to get myself familiar with the copper cap so that when I put the rect. in I won't have to be soldering and unsoldering the the heater wires the A/B them.

        CC

I don't know if the CC drops the voltage as much as a NOS 5Y3.
        You might want to wait.
I have run 6K6's in my Double Deluxe with no issues.
