Advice needed for speaker jack wiring

Hello.
In intend to use the external speaker jack in my '77 Fender Deluxe Reverb to install a negative feedback adjust pot.
The attached first diagram depicts the speaker jacks in my amp.
Question:
may I uninstall the ext. speaker jack and run the black OT secondary to the ground lug on the main speaker jack, like in the second diagram?
