  • Fender Blues Deluxe reissue question

I am a new member. My son wants to sell his Fender Blues deluxe reissue because he saw a label where it was made in Mexico. He thinks the quality is less like an Mexican Strat. or tele.. I told him no( He is 18 and knows everything). Where did they build the Blues Deluxes?

Yes, i believe they indeed are made there. I even saw a pictorial of the plant showing them on the production line. But your son is indeed mistaken about the quality. They are as well made as any fender aside from the higher end custom tube stuff. I've looked inside one in fact, tho a deville, not deluxe. (only diff is # of speakers) And i've looked in most models of fender tube amps. However, no tube amp by any major company is made to the specs of an old fender or current boutique amp. So the quality isn't great, it's adequate. But if he wants better than adequate tell him to save his money because you need to pay 2-3 times as much to get great build quality today. But taken good care of the blues i fine. It's also a very good sounding amp. But you may want to check out the deville reissue too because the speakers in that make it superior sounding. It's got some serious sponge factor going on due to the speakers. It's one of the best sounding new fenders i've played. In fact, i prefer it to most of them including the hi end stuff, and I have access to and have played almost all of them.

Look on the rear of the amp, the country of origin is printed right on it.

Doesn;t want one from Mexico? He'd prefer maybe the ones from China or Indonesia?

The Mexican amps have the full 5 year warranty like any other Fender. As an authorized repair center for Fender and many other brands, I certainly never bother to check if they are Mexican. ANd consistent faults I find are not due to construction quality, but more design shortcoming. And the Design is good old USA.

Fender's Mexican factories are modern facilities, these are not built by peasants in the rear room of a taco stand on the street in Tijuana.

As others have already said, that is where these amps were made. No shame in that fact. Many very good players have owned this amp over the years. It is, of course, very similar to the Hot Rod Deluxe, which is one of the best selling guitar amps Fender ever made. See if you can get your son to hang with his BDx for a bit longer. It is a lot better amp than what most kids start with.
        Good Luck

Both my brother and I have had these amps for 14 years - both were purchased in 1995 and have been used regularly ever since. The ones we have were made in the USA. They are great amps for the money. The jacks aren't great and will go with time. Also, my brother's needed a number of solder connections re-done recently. However, over the years, they have been reliable, have done the job well, and sound good.

As for the quality of Mexican made Fender products, I bought my Mexican made Fender Jazz bass 10 years ago for $420 CAD. I could have got a US made one for $1100+ CAD. Both had exactly the same parts and the workmanship of the Mexican made one was just as good as the US made one. Made more sense to get the Mexican made one and save $700.
