El34's and 800V on the plates

    Well, 360V on the screen is obviously too much then! Try calculating it with 90V or 120 or whatever. If that's not on the datasheet (it's not) then extrapolate it with the 3/2 power law or whatever.

    Judging from what mooreamps has posted previously about his designs, I can guess how he does this, I just don't see the point of it, or of power scaling in general.

      I've had one of those arc in a Musicman (700 vdc to plates) and in the YBA-1A. I'm sticking to the E-H's in high voltage aplications. Just my choice.

        There is a definite enhanced quality to the tone when the plates are at 600 volts. Perhaps much less dark sounding than when running the plates on these big power tubes at 300 volts. You can really hear it on a professionally studio mixed recording. Hence, less the need for a tube screamer , or the ultimate power soaker or what ever the hell it is, ect.
