  • dropping resistors

    Hi folks,

I'm planning on building a vibrolux 6G11 with the normal channel changed into a Deluxe 6G3 preamp.
The dropping resistors after the choke (respectively the 1k resistor in the 6G3) are 10k and 10k in the vibrolux and 10k and 27k in the Deluxe.
In version 2: would the second 10k and the 18k make up for the needed 27k(28k)?
I'm not sure which is the better way for a voltage supply to the Deluxe preamp. See attachment.
Would be nice if someone could lead me in a direction.

    Schematics can be found here:

I would go with Ver1 arrangement, in order to get the similar B+ dynamic behaviour to the originals. But size the resistors to get the voltages you want, then size the caps to get the same time constant as the original. Peter.

Just design your amp so it is easy to change the dropping resistor/power supply layout , i.e. with extra turrets/eyelets that can be jumpered if you have no resistors/ caps there and so on.

        Yeah, that's a good idea.
I'll go over the board again and see what I need to change. Shouldn't be that much.
