    I kind of understand where he might be coming from. I don;t see it as a perceived advantage, but I'd love to be able to get modern quality caps in old-looking housings. I've been working on an old GA20 from the early 50s that was filled with those huge honking wax-dipped PIO caps that were darn near the size of electrolytics, and of course they were all leaking horribly. I hate to see Orange drops or Jensens or whatever in there, because admittedly I like the "old look" on some amps, even if it is something that most will never see nor care about.

      I don't know about the old red Astron caps but the old yellow Astrons do not survive the test of time without developing excessive DC leakage. Theefore, I don't think good thoughts when I see Astron lookalikes. Now if they were to offer the blue molded caps that Fender used in the Blackface amps I might be intrigued for nostalgia's sake. However, I probably wouldn't be buying them at the $10+ price each. Good luck to them for their efforts though.
