  • Building a traynor based clone

hi guys i'm looking to build an amp thats a bit different to the norm!

a small 1x15 combo in the ~20 watt range sounds perfect
very simple i.e just one tone control rather than pots for bass/mid/treble
    non master volume

here's a link to the schematic...

Prowess Amplifiers - Traynor - Schematics - Bassmate Yba 2 - Schematic Only

can anyone suggest mods/improvements to this?
I was thinking of adding a valve rectifier anyway and possibly spring reverb?
    cheers!

This amp is very similar to a Fender 5D3. I've built too many amps to name but to this day my 1965 Traynor YBA 2 is the best sounding. There is no schematic around for it , but it's simply that schematic but with a 5Y3 and a 6AV6(half a 12AX7) as the first tube. Build it exactly as shown but add a 5Y3 rectifier and use a 12AY7 as the first tube and wire it in parallel.
