Wat do you make of that (positive?) feedback between the 1st and 3rd cathodes when in bright mode?

Looks like negative feedback to me.
WARNING!
Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
