  • Leslie Amp Screen Supply

    The Leslie amplifier uses a screen supply voltage that is about 115V below the plate supply voltage.

    Are there advantages or disadvantages to operating this way? Power, distortion for example?

    I'd guess that the main advantage is tube life, as it will reduce screen current / dissipation.

      It's a conservative approach. You don't see 6550s cathode biased very often. One advantage is you don't have to drive the 6550s so hard.
      WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
