  • Vactrol replacement for channel switching

    Hello All,

Is anyone using the photomos/mosfet relay/ optimos parts for switching channels instead of the vactrol devices? It seems that Avago has some that are functionally equivalent (used as a SPST relay much like the VTL5Cx devices in channel switching amps) and at a much nicer price ($1.50 compared to the $4+ Vactrol)

Also, Avago has one set of devices that has a response time of 5ms on and 5ms off (typical) which seems slower than the VTL5C1 at turn-on but much faster at turn-off. Any comments?

I am considering using these devices in my preamp and thought that I would check with others about their experiences.

    Thanks in advance,
    Sean

Do it and get back with your findings! I'm playing with FET switching myself

Those Avago datasheets say .5mS turn on and .02mS turn off. So long as you use the 400V line you should be fine.

I've used NEC ssrs and they work.
