  • what PI values to use?

    I took a 18 watt that i long ago converted to 6V6 and i tore out the front end and used a fender twin schematic as in the schematic is below. I took it from the .05 after the second stage and went right into the PI that i was using with the last preamp. But that one was never optimized and was a PI value i copped from something else i can't even remember. Considering i'm using a pair of 6v6 instead of a quad of 6l6, what pi values would you use for the cleanest possible tone? Not that it probably matters, but i also had one extra AX7 so both stages are paralleled.

    ...are you saying both triodes in the PI are actually paralleled tubes? That'd lower their impedances for sure.
    ...and the Devil said: "...yes, but it's a DRY heat!"

      no, i was saying i used 2 tubes both paralleled in the preamp. The PI is a regular LTP

        6V6s only need about half the drive voltage that 6L6s do, so the PI component values aren't critical. The 6V6s will clip well before the PI does, and that's the way it should be for maximum clean headroom.

          Ok, then i must be clipping elsewhere, tho i can't figure out where else it would be. My voltages are close to the schematic.
