  • Power amp design from scratch

    Hi all
I'm trying to design a power amp section for an amp I am building and am struggling to find sources on the topic that explain why every value is what it is. I am building my amp for a project at uni and need to justify the value of every component 'in the box'. I am using EL34 valves in a P-P setup. I have managed to get the preamp and the power supply all done, but am stumbling on the power amp section, so any help at all will be a real boost!!

I've been using Merlin's book for the preamp, and his website for the power supply, but the power amp section feels a bit 'glossed over' and just can't seem to obtain the information I need from it.

    Thanks

Here you go: Technical books online

There are a bunch of the classic books here with everything you need to know to design an amplifier. Good luck!

      Output Tube datasheet

You really should learn how to read & apply the tubes parameters from the datasheet.
      Search "Load Line".
Franks Electron datasheets on just about every tube ever made.
      Frank's Electron tube Pages
