    Silly (probably) PT shield question...

    If a PT has a shield b/t the primary and secondary sides, and there is a solder tab for the shield present, is it supposed to be grounded? And if so, where is considered to be the optimum grounding point for this?

    Yes, it is supposed to be grounded. Any "dirty" ground will do, a logical place would be the same place as the ground wire in the line cord.
    "Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
