Having built a 5e3 build recently, I've found it to be not totally what I was after. I'm planning to rebuild it with an extra 12ax7 gain stage and converting the PI to a cathode coupled setup. As well as more tone controls and gain controls between stages.
What I would like to know is first, if I were to add a FX loop, what is the highest signal voltage swing I could have without risk of damage to FX pedals in an fx loop. Also what sort of signal voltage swing (on their grids) do the 6V6s usually start to break up?
Lastly for a side project, I'm currently using two power transformers wired so each serves as the OT for a single output tube, instead of an output transformer for the 5e3 build. Would a single transformer wired in this manner work for a single ended style amp?
