The simplest, best and clearest descriptions of power supply design as it applies to tube gear I ever found was the Radio Amateurs Handbooks of the early-mid sixties. Very clear and direct. Those guys have a lot of experience teaching people how to do this stuff. Check old book sellers, ham fests and maybe Amazon. The ARRL rocks.
