Half the excursion requires 1/4 the power.
If the two speakers are equal distances from the listening or measuring location, and they are wired in phase, for guitar frequencies they are constructively combined. For two speakers in a 2x12 or 4 in a 4x12 cab, in a normal stage and audience setup the speakers are close enough to equal distance for anyone in the audience.
I offered what I posted to help people understand. I don't want to get into a pointless debate. If you don't buy it that is fine, but you can always hook up some speakers and grab a cheap Radio Shack SPL meter and see for yourself. It's there to be measured.
