    I would still consider a little higher plate resistor on the first 12ax7b gain stage, 270 K....

      Really? I've done that before & admit seen a gain boost but I'm really after a bit more vintage character in this design plus changing plate resistor values also seem to change freq. ratios between cathode cap & resistor so I've tried to keep it as close to spec as possible. If I was after something a little more Brit flavored though I would maybe raise them to 220K or so. As is I've actually dropped it a bit on my final revision (not posted) as well as tweaked a few other values here & there. Also added some 680k plate resistors feeding the 6V6's figuring I could raise my output expectations a bit from 12 to 16 watts since going with the larger transformers.

        I almost forgot.. 1 K 1 watt screen grid resistor for the 6V6 ;flame proof...
