  • Power transformer design

    Hello!

I am a new member and I'd like to say hi to everybody!

I'm trying to make an amp based on the 5F6A Bassman circuit, but since I live in a remote part of the world where tube transformers are hard to obtain and shipping one overseas would be very costly, I'm forced to design my own.

OT is pretty much finished after googling the original specs, drawing load lines, doing some math and having it wound to my blueprints.

I've made some initial blueprints of a power transformer, but I have nobody to go over my figures. Since any mistakes could result in lot of smoke, is anyone willing to take a look and help me out a little bit?

Please send me a PM. Thanks!

Another option might be to email a magnetics company that already makes a clone of that PT and see if they can sell/send you the detailed tech info you need. Since it's a cloned PT there's no real proprietary secrets to hide. An envelope shouldn't be so costly to ship.

May not be fruitful but there's no harm and very little trouble in asking.

      Hi and Welcome!

There are amp builders all over the world, every corner... where are you?

A pt is a pretty straight forward thing, I am sure even "in the sticks" there will be a transformer maker that will do one at a good rate.

Otherwise just post your info here, thats the best way to get decent comments/feedback that are not a pile of pish

      Cheers

      Mike

You already solved the "difficult" one (the OT); the power transformer is straightforward.
Just feed your transformer winding guy with the volts and mA each winding has to handle, he should easily solve it from that.
I mean, that's what he does for a living !!
