  • Question on old Fender amps............

    Hey all!

Really stupid question, but I tried to search and I couldn't get the answer clear........

What kind of potmeters (lin or log) does the older Fender units have???? On all the schematics the pots are just labelled 1M, nothing more....... I build a Tremolux clone in my old Dynacord Twen and it rocks!!!! BUT I find the controls to be quite jumpy. Now they are log potmeters........ I will try some LIN for the volume, yet I wanted to know what 'they' used

    Thanks!

A 'less steep' audio taper is used for vol and treble, ~20-30%, with todays standard 10% audio taper used for bass and mid.
Check out the part refs on a RI schematic
    http://support.fender.com/schematics..._schematic.pdf
see the '30A' after the vol & treble, '10A' after the bass.
Weber sell audio pots with a suitable taper.
    Pete.
