  • Quick current question...

    Good evening all,

Just a quick question about plate currents, etc... When choosing a PT, does one need to worry about the current if the PT is over-speced? Do I need to match currents for the plates or do I simply view the current output of the PT as a pool that the tubes can draw from? My new PT pushes 201mA but I want to make sure I don't nuke the tubes I have on order.

    Cheers,

The power transformer can "supply" it's rated current.
Whether you use all of it or not is a mute point.
    Think of those "wall warts".
    The have a milliamp rating.
If you hook up a device that wants to draw more than the rated current (in ma) than you risk damaging the power pack.
If you use less so be it.
