  • Are standoffs antennaes for noise?

    There's a few spots on my layout where HT is close to a standoff; which is essentially grounded to the chassis.

    Is this a problem?

    I don't think they act as antennas any worse than say, a component leg or piece of wire of a similar size. All they are is a little metal nub embedded in the end of an insulating pillar.

        Are you using the all metal pillar standoffs (rather than the nylon ones Steve's thinking of)?
        If so they'll be grounded to the chassis, so shouldn't add to any noise problems.
        Obviously ensure there's sufficient insulation / clearance between the grounded standoff and other, especially high voltage, nodes.
