  • SFTR reverb Channel for SE amp with Speaker?

    Hi ,

I 'm wondering if anyone has tried connecting the reverb driver on a SFTR to a speaker ? How does it sound ?

The master volume with the pull switch could be used to switch in or out the 500pf that cuts the bass to the reverb or to cut the HT to the 6L6's so that the speakers can be attached to the reverb OT

    What do you think?

    Say What?
Why would you want to 'drive' a speaker with a reverb circuit.
It is o/k to do that if you are simply testing the transformer.
    Confused I am.

The reverb driver Circuit is simply a single ended amp with parallel 12at7 halves as the driver. The tank is 8 ohms so why not drive a speaker instead ( perhaps you could drive a time cube if you wanted a delay ! ) .

The reason would be to use the reverb channels preamp but with a low wattage output for practice at bedroom friendly levels. Sure it's not going to sound just like a quieter SFTR.

As far as I can see all that would be required to do this is to switch out the 500pf .

Likewise the reverb return could be used as a preamp in as long as the levels and impedance were appropriate for whatever preamp you attached.
