Another NoOb question (transformer/choke content)

What is TR2 doing in this schematic? It's just two wires so there can't be a secondary and a primary, right? I don't recall at the moment if there is a voltage drop across it but I don't think there was. I've been trying to learn all about power supply and I realized I had skipped over this component.

The choke opposes any change in current...
the end result (in noob terms) being that it has the effect of smoothing peaks in the ripple of the power supply. It helps reduce that remaining "buzz"in the DC power supply.
Not too much voltage drop, but a little.
So you could look at it like this: If I had the "ideal" choke,
Feeding a square wave in one end, it comes out a sine wave on the other end. The choke has opposed the sharp edged peaks of the square wave.
Try this, it actually works. Although most people have not tried that, it's kinda fun to play with.

And if you don't like my (IQ73) simple explanation, you can try:
"an inductor designed to present an impedance to AC, or to be used as the current filter of a DC power supply."

And I recommend you buy this book, which will help: Delmar's Standard Textbook of Electricity, which can be had cheap used on Amazon.
It's like the bible of technicians. It's has all your formulas, rules, definitions and laws, which you will find useful for evermore.

Sure you can bypass the choke. The amp will just hum more.
