        Gents,

        It's a form of multiple negative feedback (ok, I had to look it up, not being as sharp as some of the brainiacs here), the topology is thoroughly discussed in RDH4 (p. 334-336), I even found an old correspondence from Duerdoth (who was referenced by Langford Smith in the analysis). As Teemuk has already noted, the circuit can only be considered conditionally stable, and why one would use it in a plain old guitar amplifier stage is amusing...
