Upgrading a Fender Champion 110 or Princeton 112 to have a better sound

Hi,
New to this forum but I have a Fender Champion 110 that is pretty beat, but it works.
The clean channel is fair-enough but the drive channel is pretty poor.
As this is my "experiment" amp, I wanted to see if anyone has ever bothered to mod one of these (or another Fender SS) to improve sound.
Ultimately I would like to make my Princeton 112+ sound better, but I will "learn" on the Champion 110.

if another thread exists, I would appreciate a nod to that location.

It's hard to reply on posts like #1 without knowing what the poster likes, sonically.

Maybe you you could elaborate, and maybe say what you don't like about these particular amps.

I want to sound like SRV, EC and BB.....(oh, an amp mod wont help that much...lol...)

Yes, I am a newbie to amps, electronics and, in general, learning to play guitar...for fun...
The bluesy sound of a tube-screamer and the Blues Driver. (I own a Ibanez TS9DX) is great and I own a nice Super-Champ XD and it has a fantastic black-face tone as well as some terrific models that don't require much boost.

BUT....I am a curious cat and am always trying to learn new (and fun) things....and my solid-state amps are just dying to be "messed" with....for fun and educational purposes.

I was just curious if anyone had made any specific "tonal" mods to a Fender solid state amp to make it sound......different...more bluesy, warmer, twangier...anything.

I am not afraid to experiment with my Champion 110, to see what works for me, I am just unsure which components could be mod'ed to change the clean tone or the drive tone.

I am trying to read up on mods to foot switches to help understand what makes things tick, and i will eventually figure out what does what for tone on my SS amps...i was just looking for some tips or suggestions.

I'm not familiar with those amps. So I can't speak as to circuit mods. But most SS amps of that era were bretty basic. Changes to anything other than the EQ are likely to be subtle. But a speaker change could probably make a notable improvement. The speaker IS the amps vocal cords. Something like a Weber made for getting that "correct" tone will almost certainly sound more "correct".
