The crossover type circuits are fine for SS amps that don't mind running into a high load. Loudthuds circuit does offer better HF impedance management.
Using "flat" speakers and signal processing is fine for some players. But others, me included, just plug in, crank up and wail. With overdriven tube amps flat response speakers would sound awful and any EQ processing would be lost in the clipping.
