I apologize for for suggesting crossing over a guitar speaker, I should know by now its just NOT done! You want different speaker sounds buy a few dozen different peaky, large and expensive 12" drivers using 1970's technology and mount them in open backed cabs designed solely for traveling robustly across the country.

A much more acceptible solution! Great idea.

Actually, many attenuators use what amounts to crossover technology. Shhhhh. I won't tell if you don't.

The crossover type circuits are fine for SS amps that don't mind running into a high load. Loudthuds circuit does offer better HF impedance management.

Using "flat" speakers and signal processing is fine for some players. But others, me included, just plug in, crank up and wail. With overdriven tube amps flat response speakers would sound awful and any EQ processing would be lost in the clipping.

I'm not sure were V30's came into this but these are not V30's, they are more of Big Jensens, and too bright, as in to much response over 5k hertz. But I have been palying through them more and trying to get them more broken in.
