I just thought of this, using an old time bulb socket style fuse holder in series with the mains power supply, you can screw a regular light bulb in there to limit the current (or brown sound maybe?) and for full power use a standard screw in fuse. Anybody ever done this?
I was testing out my amp and couldn't figure out why I was getting less power from the speaker than before and why my power supply was sagging so much and then I realized "duh hey I'm still running on the 40 watt bulb but look hey I could just screw in a regular old fuse in there!"
