Stand By question (silvertone)

On this Silvertone.....
What happens when the SB Switch is used.?
I see what the switch does physically, but can you guys tell me what is going on electronically when the SB is used.?
What kind of "Stand By" situation is created with the switch at this location.?

When the standby switch SW2 is closed, you are connecting two out of phase signals together causing a net signal of zero to the output tube grids. The output tubes are still running, but there is no signal going to or through the tubes.

I figured it was a phase thing.
So what do the power tubes, and maybe even the OT think about that situation.?

The purpose of a standby switch is to silence the amp, not do anything to the tubes.
