      I think the 12ay7 is the best tube for the most hifi clear and open sounding tube but I will never admit that in public again for fear the price will increase even more for one and I am probably stupid for doing it now.

      I love the way hifi guys describe sound.

        They are a power tube, the voltages they run at are reasonably low, they are cheap, I have 12, really should use a 6AU6 though as I have 50 of them, 150mA of heater current at 6V, they are said to sound fairly good.
