Input question

Pardon me for not being able to figure this out.
Have a feeling I am going to feel stupid after the obvious is explained.....
The first AY7 on top of the schem. It has two jacks. I see what happens (I think) when you plug into the "top" jack. But what happens when you plug into the bottom jack.? Does the signal split to both halves of the AY7.?

Fender Pro 5E5

The signal leaves the 12AY7 out through the plate, then through the 0.1uf capacitor.
So the upper valve has a tone control & a volume control.
The lower valve has only the volume control.
The two tubes are separate, though goofing with the controls may have some affect from one to the other.

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing.
I see 2 dual triodes.
I am just talking about the "top" dual triode that has two input jacks.
What is the difference between those 2 jacks into that top dual triode.?
Or am I reading the schem the wrong way.?

When you plug into the top jack, you just feed the top triode (call it V1a), the grid of the bottom triode V1b is grounded. When you plug into the bottom jack, the signal is fed to both triodes, V1a and V1b. The signals will mix at the plates. When only one triode is being fed, the gain will be lower than if both triodes are being fed a signal.

That IS what I was seeing, but was not sure what the outcome was regarding Tone/Playing.
Did Fender do that a lot, or was this kind of a 5E5 thing.?

Sorry about the inaccurate reply.
If you search the 5E5 input circuits, for the most part, they are all different, at least as far as they are drawn.

No Problem.!
There ARE a lot.
I had to 2xcheck 10x before I asked... just to make sure I was not looking at the 5E5A (which is what I really want to build) or some other variant.
The 5E5 just happened to catch my eye.
