  • Spring reverb phase??

    hey all,
when mixing the recovered signal from a spring reverb back with the original dry signal, should I be concerned with phase at all? It seems to me that the output from the spring reverb would be so mangled that it wouldnt' have any relation to the original signal, but I know what happens when you make assumptions

You're right. There is so much time shift, and so many different time shifts, that it doesn't make sense to worry about phase with the delayed signal. It's certain to be aiding at some frequencies, opposing at others, and in between in most of them.
Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

They may have started life as the same thing, but the dry signal and the reverb signal are totally different signals, totally different waveforms. There is no phase relationship to get right OR wrong. ANy more than there is a phase relationship between the bass guitar and the cowbell.
