  • Paralleled triode first gain stage: Spitfire and 18 watt

Watching the Matchless Spitfire schematic I realised it uses, like the 18 watt I have, the two triodes in parallel, in the first stage, but with a 220k plate resistor and 1k5 cathode resistor (18 watt uses 100k at the plates and 820R at cathodes). If I change my current values with those, what difference in sound can that make? More gain maybe?
    Thanks!

I'd expect both circuits to sound very similar with a negligible gain difference as the cathode resistor is bypassed. I think I'd go with the 100k, 820R as it will have more current available to drive the following circuit.

Thanks Dave! So I think I'll leave those resistors alone! just wondering what could be the difference.
