  • Repurposing Multiple (independent) Primaries

I'm currently planning an aux transformer for supplying bias, grid drive and some low voltage feeds. One option is P-T442, but I'm going to be consuming the bulk of the 12.6V winding's current with a 3.3V DC/DC converter. I'm not sure how much will be left for my +/-12v rails.

Our little niche market appears to be the primary consumer of multiple output 60Hz transformers, particular ones with one HV winding and a handful of LV windings. Can I take a transformer with dual primaries (not taps, separate windings), and use the 2nd primary as an output, derating by 50%? (since its designed to have the primaries wired in parallel for 125V power).

It occurs to me that there might be some safety criteria not required of the 2nd primary side winding.
