What if he had miscalculated thecustom flight case
Would he:
a) grab a bandsaw and slice a couple inches from the guitar head, so now he has a 5 string guitar? (since 1 tuning peg got the axe).
Even funnier if it was a Gibson type and he lost TWO tuners
2) cut a 2" by 4" window in one end, so the tip of the head travels outside the case.
3) pulls the neck, cuts and refrets it to 3/4 scale .
or .....
sells the custom case on EBay, measures and remeasures and gets a new, right size one.
By the way, WORST has not yet come.
Remember all those cables must bend and go somewhere else ... what if after a great expense and lots of work the plugs fit ... but the cable pack does not?
He should have assembled his big pedalboard in the real world, with all cables and connectors plugged, everything connected and powered ... on a large piece of plywood.
Only then draw a big chalk rectangle around, leaving 4 inches free space (2" foam, 1" case, 1" ghosts and gremlins) and only then order his flightcase.
As is, sorry, but I fear that even with the shorter plugs it may not fit.
Hope that does not happen, of course.Juan Manuel Fahey

Agree with JM, seems you are having to find a workaround for a miscalculated flight case. If it is plastic, I wonder if it can be modified?Originally posted by EnzoI have a sign in my shop that says, "Never think up reasons not to check something."

Yep. The cable pack along that back wall (assuming equally tightly installed into the flight case) is going to be an issue I think....
The *only* fix I can see in this instance (at least what immediately comes to mind) is the George L's, using the George L .155 mini cable...that's the only way I can see the wiring pack fitting (and that's assuming a two-way split at the middle to minimize the girth of the wire pack).

Definitely poor planning on the owner's/designer's part IMO.
Tough spot to be in man. I don't envy you at all. But I do wish you the best outcome (even if that means handing it back to the owner as is).
Personally, I'm with Juan here. It's my way (properly done and being forced to using George L's) or the highway.

If they take the options away...and they definitely haven't left you many/any choices to speak of here...then they foot the bill for what's required.Start simple...then go deep!
