I'm looking for a small "tuner" module that could be added to the faceplate of an amp. Does anyone know of a product intended for this purpose? I'm considering gutting a tuner pedal or hand-held tuner, but I'm hoping for a better option.

The industry standard for stage use is a Boss TU-2 or the newer 3 on the floor. I don't understand why anyone would want to clutter up an amp with one. It's also damn inconvenient to use in an amp. The newer dsp amps have it built in but it's funny to see people use them with their butts to the crowd and you can't use them on the fly. If you really want to do it, look into a cheap acoustic guitar pickup preamp assembly that has a tuner feature. You might be able to repurpose one. you MIGHT be able to work an N-Tune module into the amps front panel, although its set as a 500k volume pot.
and quite expensive ($60) it does fit into a std. pot mounting

Thanks - that's along the lines I'm thinking about - small and simple. The simple tuners have meters with 3 LEDs. I really only need the three LEDs. It may not be the ultimate tuner, but 3 LEDs will work and don't take a lot of room on a panel. I could not find anything on Crates schematics about the tuner hookup.
Five wires:
+15 Gnd -15
Signal + Signal -?Comment

FYI - the module I pulled out of the Axe Box works great. It has only 3 leads: +v, Gnd, and signal. The signal level straight from a guitar seems adequate to drive it. It's easy to see since it's internally backlit. Seems perfect for an amp panel. Thanks again for the pointer.Originally posted by Jazz P Bass View Post
