Good point, the only thing challenging this is the effect the instrument has on the tone. However, being a tinkerer myself I'd say mess about, if you're not happy with the results just go back to stock.

I'm sorry, I don't have the means to capture my schematic and upload it. I just got tinycad, when I get'er figured out, I can upload it. But, I keep changing things.

In a nutshell, it's a JCM800 config, minus the low input jack. First stage has a 1K5 cathode resistor bypassed with a 1uf. From plate, through a .01uF cap, then a 1M to a 250K pot. Second stage has a 2K7 cathode resistor, with a 1uF bypass cap. Doing the math, I have a roll-off of 59 Hz, then a 106Hz roll-off respectively. The 2nd stage plate goes through a .01uF cap to a voltage divider consisting of 2 - 100K resistors. Everything is the same as stock from the cathode follower on. I've played with adding mid emphasis on the series resistor to get the approx 720 Hz roll-off a la marshall. So basically I'm just playing with the first 2 stages, using other values than the typical 470K/1m pot 1st stage, and 2x470K 2nd stage, with the 10k unbypassed cathode on the 2nd stage. As mentioned, I'm trying to back off on the level of distortion.

Oh yes, I'm using Svetlana EL34's right now. I had a pair of SED Wing C 6L6GC's in there, but the do have a more pronounced bottom end. I dig the EL34's, my 1st amp was a 1974 4 input Marshall. And! The cab had greenbacks. Why oh why did I sell it so long ago?

Agreed, I need something other than the V30. I've been checking out utube shootouts, and I kind of like the Celestion Creamback. From what I'm reading, and hearing, the V30 has that upper mid hump, whereas the greenback has more pronounced highs. The Creamback seems to smooth everything out.
