    The old radio guys call it "Lexiconning" - after the first company that made a gadget you used to shorten ads but keep the pitch the same. Less time on theme music = more time for ads. Also used to leave out short silences in order to cram max info into minimum time slot. You hear it all the time on ads for medications: "Maycausesleepdrowsinessmouthdrynesswobblyknobslooseshoe lacesetceteraetceteraandpossiblydeathconsultyourdoctor."
    This isn't the future I signed up for.

      Chuck, I do love that Joe Jackson tune. Somehow Mellencamp's I Need a Lover sits in the category for me.
