Wow, I just gave away the exact same radio a few months ago, but it was a different color! That thing had awesome bass tone... CCR & AC/DC sounded great through it. There's something really charming about those, and the sound - it's so much more aesthetically pleasing than the synthesized artificially-enhanced bass-boosted way-too-much-fi sound of radio for the last 25 years or so... I completely get why his wife wants to keep it!

"Of course that means playing **LOUD** , best but useless solution to modern sissy snowflake players." - J.M. Fahey -
"All I ever managed to do with that amp was... kill small rodents within a 50 yard radius of my practice building." - Tone Meister -

Yeah buddy! I knew you'd make it turn out great. One caution with "ventilation" holes. Florida. "Water bugs" and their friends looooove to move into boxes that are nice & warm and stay that way. There are metal hole plugs with screens that allow air movement but - no bug movement. If you must ventilate, I'd search out a couple of them, drill or chassis-punch appropriate holes & pop 'em in. I got a couple, they look like 1 inch diameter metal hole plugs with screening instead of solid metal. Where to get 'em? Geeze if I knew I'd put it right here. Heck I'd like to find more, so if anybody knows please fill us in.

If you can keep your hand on the transformer box, it's under 120F and should be safe in the long run. Keep out of reach of children of course but don't be surprised if the family cat takes a liking to it.
This isn't the future I signed up for.

Mouser stocks this line of such items:

With a million of these in stock I'd call Mouser to see what they have in stock which would work with whatever drills or punches I might have. I imagine it would work fine without drill holes (the radio has them because of the heat generated by the tubes- right?)

No need to call- just use the search filters. The "magic filter" is "Type=Plugs, Filter Insert Vent"

Hope this works- Here's a listing of in-stock vents with filter, in order by part number.

Unfortunately, you have to cross-reference part numbers to the data sheet to find hole diameters.

          Range is PN 4919 (.875") to PN 4941 (3").
