  • Quick Power Transformer Mounting Question

I'm working on the chassis layout for an amp with a more-or-less Deluxe Reverb power section. The chassis I'm using is wider but shorter than the DR, and I'm wondering if turning the power transformer 90 degrees will cause any problems. It's a laydown type, so the laminations will still be in the same plane, just the axis of the windings will change. Doing it this way buys me an extra inch of length in the chassis which would be helpful. If need be I can rotate the choke and OT 90 degrees from the standard placement, but am I correct in thinking I shouldn't need to?

    Hopefully that all makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Andy

You want the OT and PT to have laminations 90 degrees apart. it doesn't matter which way those 90 degrees point.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Thanks Enzo, that was quick. Sounds like I should be fine. That's what I figured, that it was the plane of the laminations that mattered, rather than the axis of the windings.

Thanks again, happy holidays and all that.
