Ah, yes, ElecteoBOOM... I love that channel, but have no inclination to "do this at home..."
My guess is that he's actually educated pretty well, so he knows how far to push it. But I may be wrong...

It appears he actually knows what he's doing.?. I think it's a just a show. Pretty entertaining actually. But I have a hunch that every "OUCH!" he set himself up for was already calculated to be non fatal.?. He may not be fully competent in electronics and only rehashing known experiments, but he has enough of a base of knowledge to avoid killing himself... Maybe. I enjoyed it. Yes, the guy is a joker , and *probably* everything is made up for the Net.

My 10 year old nephew watches Electroboom's videos when I visit him each summer break. I make it a point to ask my nephew a few questions after watching his videos, one in particular. "What is the point of watching Electroboom videos?" His response... "To show people what NOT to do with electricity!!" Pretty smart kid!!When the going gets weird... The weird turn pro!

I watched one of his demos at a Calgary expo, where he was trying to weld with car batteries in front of a live audience. He's an electrical engineer, so I'm sure he knows what he's doing, and he also mentioned in that video why he wouldn't grab the terminals of a 120VAC source, so...
There are some minor technicalities that I disagree with (that doesn't mean I'm right, cuz I'm just the amp hack, not an engineer), but he does make it easy for novices to grasp concepts. All in all, pretty comical to me. Also, if he screws up, he admits it. I'm in the camp that says he leaves or puts the mistakes in because it's everyday common stuff that any of us could screw up. Line put an electrolytic cap in backwards...
