Fender Deluxe Silverface Volume/Intensity push pull(s) question

I have a silverface Deluxe that has both a Vaibrato channel Volume knob Push Pull and an Intensity knob Push Pull.

What were these push pulls designed to do and how do they work ?

I have heard they dont work that well and can be easily disabled.

Are you certain that the Intensity Pull switch is stock?
That sounds to me like a Cesar Diaz mod: Pulling the switch disconnects the vibrato circuit (with a 'pop')

The Volume pull switch typically was a volume boost.
