    I think those are polystyrene or polyester film caps. I have an old expensive Barcus Berry preamp that uses those. I believe they are very good for audio.

      I think those are basically a boxed film cap but without the "box" covering as you see on the red, yellow, and blue ones. If I were to guess I'd say (Siemens?) metallized polyester because those are cheap (and thus common) but I've also seen other films that appear similar (such as polycarbonate) so it's hard to say for sure.

        Do you think a Siemens one of those could sound good as cathode bypass in a preamp stage?

          sure but I would think the value of the cap would be more important than the specific brand and type of film (although there could be subtleties)

            They are Siemens and there's nothing special about them soundwise but there is
            something : the sides come loose when they get too hot, so take care soldering them.
