What software do y'all use to draw up your schematics?

I'm looking for a simple (read cheap) program to draw up a schematic or two. I don't envision myself using it more than 4 or 5 times. Are there any shareware programs worthwhile. I did a web search and found a few programs. Only two would load, one was pretty bad the other ran out of the demo version before I had gotten to my first tube.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

        Schematic drawing software

There are quite a few programs. Several which are free are :

        ExpressSCH

        http://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCB...c_software.htm

and this one also which works fine with MAC's :

        http://dhost.info/jschem/

You can find a lengthy list of editable schematics drawn up here:

Visio is good but expensive. So a cheaper yet good alternative is Gadwin Systems' Diagram Studio. Costs US $49 and is really good. Only that their support service is BAA...D. They would not just reply even if you are a registered user. Hardly any bug except very minor ones.

You could use Eagle (www.cadsoft.de) It's a PCB layout program, but does decent schematics.

KiCAD is free and works great on Windows boxes.
It seems to work on my Ubuntu box.
If doesn't work (yet) on the Mac - a couple of folks are claiming success, but I haven't had any luck following their recipes.

Schematics and layouts up to 16 layers.

Visio is perhaps the only software that I have found so far which can assign a shape to more than one layer.

Does anyone know of another software?

I just tried Diagram Studio and then Smart Draw. Basically both are good but some basic features like above do not exist.
