i live in an apt and the levels i can practice at are of course ridiculously low. I can't even get the master past the point where it kicks in before it's way too loud. So i don't need an attenuator that will allow me to cook nthe power tubes. Just something to turn it up to 2 on the master and be as low as a TV at low volume. Is there a simple attenuator schematic somewhere that would serve this purpose, or would i be better off just using a L-pad? (tried that RS transformer type volume control but it doesn't work for me at all.

Maybe you could build yourself a really low power amp like rexindigo did,
as described in this thread :Sounds like a lot of fun and I'd like to build one myself.

Actually, i should have searched before i posted because i found a thread that had a link to a "L-pad calculator". I tried several Db levels and found i had the right power resistors on hand to do a -20 Db network. Worked great ! Now i can use my amp at home and get decent tone. Gotta love the internet !
