the grid load resistor is switched so I can have line level or instrument level input. I'm not really sure what the 22k is there for, should i remove it? I'm still learning why certain components are used for where and for what. Were there any other issues with the schematic besides the ones listed? Also how would I put a presence knob in this circuit, use V1b like in the revision?

The input impedance for instrument level is now around 50k which is way too low if you want to plug a guitar directly. You will loose treble. Instrument level input impedance is typically 1Meg for guitar amps. The approx 5k input impedance you get for line level may also a bit too low.
The 0.68u cathode bypass cap will result in cutting some bass frequencies. That's usually OK for a guitar amp, but for a transparent poweramp you probably want full frequency response. I'd go for something like 25u here.
The 10k pot in series with the cap is probably not that useful. The difference in gain will only be something like 4-6dB, so it's probably better as an on/off switch.
