  • More bass!!

    I play a rickenbacker 610,which is a solid body with HiGain single-coil pickups,through a hiwatt custom 50.
    It's less bright than a tele or a strat but it's also weaker in the bass frequencies: weaker than any guitar I've owned!
    Nevertheless I like it and I'd keep on using it.
    I bought a closed-back 1x15 cab (50 watt) to increase the bass and then found my tone too bassy...so I removed the back of the cab,but it's still boooomy!!
    Now I'm thinking about:
    1) pairing the Jensen 15" speaker (C15N) with a 10" celestion;
    2) buying a closed-back 4x12;
    3) buying a closed-back 2x12.

    Any advices?

    Of course you've tried the BRILL input, cranked the Pres, Treble and Mid controls and dialled back on the Bass.

    You've also tried your old cab in combination with the 15".

    You can try reducing the values of some of the coupling caps - start with the PI->poweramp ones.

      Yes,I tried a 2x12 in combination with the 1x15 but I'd like to bring my tone out of a single cab...I don't like to carry more than one cab to my gigs!

          If you're not up for modifying the actual amplifier, maybe you need to consider adding some extra EQ to your signal chain. I don't think your amp has an FX loop, and probably doesn't have any preamp-out/poweramp-in jacks, so you'd need a graphic or parametric EQ between guitar and amp. ... or a treble booster?

          Hope this helps!

            yeah, i agree with Don. Unless you only use it with the ricky i'd say fix the weak guitar since it's the issue not the amp. A E.Q. should easily do the job, and if the amp has a loop you can try it there and in the front and see what works best. It will work totally different in the loop than in the front if theres any overdrive going on. Another option would be an onboard pre with bass and treble controls.
